How do I see my beliefs reflected in government policies and by politicans

I see my beliefs reflected in government and by politicans very widely actually. President Barack Obama is everything me and my family want. He represents the dream of so many black leaders from the past. President Obama truly is the voice for all but especially for African Americans. As far as government policies there are many changes that have been made thanks to our new President. I feel we as black people are a bit more equal to everyone else. It feels like more equality overall.

What is my responsibilty to society?

My responsibilty to society is to make it through all up hill battles with life. I am a young black man who has quite a bit of ambition to succeed in every thing I do. They say America is setup to make young black men such as myself fail. I think otherwise,we can make it & we can prove America wrong. I think I represent my society, my society does not represent who i am. Sure, my society could be disturbing and not the best place to live and successfull in. Although there are many Black people who have come so far from nothin to something. They've went from The projects to living on nothin but acher's of land. They are the ones who motivate me to fight for success.

What influence do class, religion, language,& culture have on my relationships and my decisions?

Class has a minor influence on my relationships and my decisions. Class is not that important to me as far as whether im poor, middle income, or wealthly. If i were in the place of being poor then I would be motivate me to do better and work even harder to have a better life for myself as well as my family. Religion has some influence on my relationships and decisions. Religion is important to me because of what it represents. I think its important to have a strong belief in any religion you choose. Culture has very little influence on my relationships and my decisions. Although, my culture as a black African American is in need of more succesfull black people overall. That's why I srtrive to do my best because I want to change America'a perspective on young black people.

How do my relationships within & across groups affect others?

My relationships within and across groups affect others very little in my opinion. As long as im staying focus and contributing to my group of that time everything is ok. Its always good to have experience working with different people in groups. There's also an advantage when you are constantly with similar group memebers from the a previous project. You all will already know about each others work ethics. Whether there's a particular person who always wants to take leadership. There is always someone who is the slacker in the group or just does not take as much interest in the project as the others do. As a team you all have to put in nothin but one hundred percent of effort.

How am I a reflection of my relationships?

I am a reflection of my relationships because I show what I learn from each of them. I think you can learn quite a bit from them because people all over can teach you so much. Your relationship with your mother can represent the fact you are close with her. Your relationship with your father can represent the fact you have a strong bond with him & he guides you through your life on how to be a man. Your realtionship with your grandparents can definitely affect you and play a major part in your life. Their life expericenes & wisdom can help you alot in life and make you wiser as well.

How do I build networks of people to support me?

I build networks of people to support me by getting along with them. I think its important to be a people person when trying to gain a supportive cast. Its always important to have someone or a hand full of people to have your back. Whether you are in the business or entertainment industry you must be able to have avalible allies to help you. In my opinion to make it in this world successfully you have to have reliable sources to turn to. For example when your applying for college you have to have recomindations from your teachers. It is best to have someone support you in anything you do in life.

How do I relate to my family, community, and society?

I relate to my family because there are alot of my personal traits that I see in some of my relatives. There are certain things that rubb off on me & there are certain traits of mine that rubb off on my relatives. I relate to my community because my community has a amount of influence on me. For example when I see people pick up trash or put together block clubs. I relate to my society because my society could change the way I think. When I mean change the way I think I mean the way I think in certain environments. My society today changes the perception of how life in black neighborhoods should be. Society does not but can potentially change the way you look at life.

Who was your most influential teacher?

My most influential teacher has to be Ms.Fuller. I'm not saying Ms.Fuller because she's my most influential teacher now but because she really is influential to me. Ms.Fuller is my advisor, therefore her goal is to help make my way to college and succeed any and every goal i wish to accomplish. Ms.Fuller teaches every as a whole how to be independent & individually capable to be competent enough to survive and live on our own. Ms.Fuller gives not only knowledge about english but, also she shares and teaches me life lessons. The advice she gives is advice that you will rarely get in school. She's the most concern teacher that i've ever met. I am honored to be in her presence & educational guidence everyday. Ms.Fuller is the Best.

Do you feel you have grown since the beginning of the year? What are some of the things that caused this to happen? What caused it to not happen? 100

I do believe i have grown since the beginning of the school year. I feel this way because I've actually learned alot of lessons the hard way. Whether it be me getting into trouble or learning to have my work or projects completed & turned in on time. All these things have helped me become wiser and more independent. I've had homework that should have been turned in the day after I got it but I failed to be responseable enough to do the work when it was given to me. In the end of all this I learned my lesson and lately I've been on time with the majority of my work. We all have to learn one way or another, in college it is far beyond difficult. You have to have the mindstate of being on top of everything all the time. That actually prepares you for life when you grow up and have tobe the most responseable.

Do you believe that the media portrays young black students in a positive light?

I think the media does not portray young black students in a positive light. We are not portayed in a positive light because the media always put the focus on teen violence. By violence; I meant gang activity ,the drugs, and even pregancy. All of those subjects are the key vocuses for young black teens. The dropout rates are also one of the major topics for black teens. Our young black students whether it be college or high school students drop out more than any other race in America. With that said, the media always find a way to portray young black students in a negative & disrespectful light.

Response to "Sympathy"

I believe this poem relates alot to freedom because of how much discription they give about being set free. I think this could relate to a situation when you feel like, there's no way out. Its also summarizing the way we as people can feel the same emotions as another species. This poem projects the pain and suffering of those who can't free themselves. The poem could also translate the feeling of doing the same thing over and over. Such as someone having to wake up, go to work everyday and just come home. Its the same thing everyday of your life and you could get pretty tired of that. You would want something new to do everyday. The same routine makes you feel obligated to dedicating your life to making another person's life better at your exspense. So, this poem definitely exposes the way many us feel. Some of us have problems with our parents having a hard time letting go as we get older, so you feel trapped in the same place as you were. For the most part this poem to me surrounds the relation of feeling helpless when we can't be free.

Reflection on "Somebody Should Have Taught Him"

My reflection on this poem is that this a poem of heartache and reality. There are alot of teens as well as young adults who should really read this poem. This poem is a reality check for many people who drink & drive consistantly. Drinking under the influence is a serious case of being irresponsible & not doing what is right. Many people have a problem with saying no to a drink or to driving while drunk;but the both do not mix very well. They cause nothing but destruction & chaos, your life is in jeoparady every single time you commit a DWI situation. I feel extremely bad for the girl in this poem as well as her family who will never get the chance to see her again. She was very wise about not drinking any achol, anything could have happened for example rape. The whole time her thoughts were very negative only because she had a sense that the moment at hand would be her last moments being alive. The main thing I learned from this poem is how to stay away from people who drink while driving & how not to do the same if I was in a similar situation.

Had Juliet been older, do you think she would have done the same things she did in the play?

If Juliet was older I think she would not do everything that she did in the play. I believe that because she would be able to do what she wants & believe in on her own terms. She could have married Romeo without worrying about what her family would think or say,as well as his family...

Could the same thing happen to two teenagers today?.

The same situation between Romeo & Juliet can defintely happen. Heartbreaks happen all the time. So does love,as teenagers you can fall deep for someone who might not feel the same way about you. For example, Romeo wanted to marry Juliet but she did not want to. That goes to show you the person you are with may not feel the same about you the way you feel about them.

Journal entry#3:What shoulod Hiram have done to prevent the crime that happened to Emmett Till?

In my strong belief Hiram should've tried to interfer with what was goin on to Emmett. He could've talked some type of sense into whoever did that horrible crime. Hiram could've gotten help from an adult even they were white. I say that because even a white adult knows not to kill a Negro, even if they did something wrong or out of place. They don't won't the publicity that will come along with killin that Negro child or adult.

Journal entry #2:What could Hiram, anyone else have done or do to stop crime?

I believe Hiram or anyone else could've start protest to help stop crime. Hiram also could've stop crime with a segregation march. A segregation march could've helped if not most than some of the white folk who are against black freedom. Even though slavery wasn't legal back in the 40's & 50's there, it was still goin on because of the blacks working in the fields of the whites. That is one of the major reasons how slavery was still goin on. Blacks were being treated unfair everytime they went to work. The whites who were against the crime in their neighborhoods could've held town hall meetings. Another way is speaking with the city council to push the law against doing harm towards the oppisite race for apparent reason.

Journal entry #1:Why does racism exist?

In my opinion racism exist in this book because the year it takes place in. In that year range which is between the 40's & 50's racism was not well disguised. In fact, racism was very common around that day & age. everything was segregated from the water fountains to the school situation. As far as the school situation goes, white children were seperated from black children.Obviously because of the time they were in. There were black leaders who wanted peace & comfort in their communities without being tormented by the fellow white citizens. Some of the cruel & harsh things you could think of happened to the blacks during this period of time. the white's threw rocks & stones at the blacks. The white policeman of course hosed the blacks dwn with the fire hoe's & unleashed the rath of guard dogs on the blacks. All these things make up segregation & racism.
